The Delhi high court has passed an interim order which temporarily halts operation of the CBSE notification forbidding students from the open school, with Biology as an ancillary paper, those who have taken more than two years to complete 11th and 12th standards, and those who have been home tutored from applying for the NEET examination. The aggrieved medical aspirants had raised several petitions for which the Delhi high court on 28.2.18 put on hold the operation of a CBSE notification laying down eligibility conditions, including an upper age limit of 25 years and 30 years for general and reserved categories respectively, to apply for MBBS course.
The court, while passing its interim order, made it clear that while the candidates are allowed to submit their application for the entrance exam(Last date for application form submission is 9.3.18), it does not mean that they can sit for it.
The bench also said students from open school or those who have studied privately should belong to a recognised board to apply for the exam. The court said the interim order would continue till the next date of hearing on 6 April 2018.
